The Littlest Scarecrow

My little scarecrow: his pick this year but mommy couldn't be more happy with it because it gave me one more cute costume year :)

He just turned 3 this month and while he of course will always be my baby boy, his ideas are becoming less baby and more big boy every day, he is such a little mess, funny (and knows it), cute of course, has the sweetest little heart, a ladies man already (oh dear), one minute will talk to anyone he passes and the next acts like he can't talk and hides his head, must bless our meals with a simple prayer of "thank you God for out food amen" but has recently decided you got to dress it up for guest and will ad things like "in the name of Jesus Christ" or "thank you God in Christ name" honestly it's hilarious, his current favorite "movie" is busy town mysteries, loves books and to be read to and I could go on about all the cute little things. On the other side of things he tests his boundaries more than ever which can be trying on this mommies patience but usually makes the right choice when given the option.

Our Sadie Dog (In Honor of Beethoven)

We got this little missy April of last year when my hubby woke me up from my then usual Saturday sleep in to tell me he wanted to take me to find a pup for my birthday, we had lost both our four legged children over the past year due to old age and after about 3 or 4 months of becoming a no dog house my heart was itching to have a furry friend again. We went to 4 or 5 shelters that day and 2 Petsmart adoption locations and had pretty much decided we weren't taking a anyone home that day, we drove back towards our home from downtown and talked about it, I was determined not to just settle on a dog that didn't feel like it was right (I am a feelings person). My hubby asked if I wanted to drive out to one more shelter that was further out than where we live, I said why not but I wasn't getting my hopes up. We walked in, it was later in the afternoon so the Saturday adoption frenzy had long past, we were met with smiles by the folks at this shelter, they were a great group and went through the whole spill and then asked us what we had in mind and then told us what they had and one man came from the back of the office with a little ball of fur in his hands and they jokingly said you wouldn't want one like this one you? It was love at first site my heart melted and I held her for a little bit while they explained she had just came in with a litter that morning and without saying it they basically broke all the rules for the day on quarantining them because it was Saturday and they didn't have a lot of pups available at the time. She was one of seven and the only one left (poor baby). The group at the front then told me about the couple other pups in the back and recommended I go check them out so I hesitantly gave her back to them (I really was and they thought it was hilarious) and went to the back of the shelter to look at the others my husband was grinning from ear to ear, once we were in the back he looked at me and said you want that pup why are you even looking at anymore? It was true, I knew she was mine and I was ready to take her home, so we went to the front and said I wanted the little one they had at the desk they proceeded to tell me she was no longer available... WHAT? I had only been in the back less than 5 minutes and there was no one else in the building how could she be taken, after a few seconds of no words and a couple giggles one man spoke up and said: you are taking her home with you today right? I smiled and told them they best give me my puppy and so while my little man and I played and cuddled with her in the floor my hubby did all the paperwork, then she got her little chip and first shot there in the office and we were on our way home, she has been my snug bug and my son's best buddy every day since.

I have had this piece for nearly 3 years, its an inherited piece I loved the little notched in drawer pulls when I first saw it, it has been hiding in my basement until I had time to make it my own :) I wanted to keep it both simple and a not too dressy as the piece is both of those things on its own.

Ingredients:
Green tinted Kilz primer originally used in my sons playroom
Lots of sandpaper and elbow grease
Ralph Lauren technique glaze, Expresso Bean (featured by Miss Mustardseed)
Stenciled white numbering
And a coat of paste wax

P.S. These are not the greatest photos, I really wanted to get this posted but the light in my foyer is terrible, please forgive.

A Few Things In The Pot

Getting Ready For Spring...

I am getting ramped up for some projects
now that spring is in the air, I can't wait!

I have always loved finding things that were less than grand and making them
uniquely my own but have put much of that aside for sometime between working a
full week (lets just say 40 doesn't hit the mark), taking care of my
little man and trying to keep the house just clean has been all I could muster
these last 2 years. Now that I am home I want to finally get my nest in order.

We have lived in our home for nearly 6 years and I must confess there are
walls I have never painted, yes I said it. If you were someone that had stepped
in my last house you would have never guessed that of me. Just to give you an
idea, we lived in out last house for 6 years and I painted the living room 4
times in those 6 years. But our household has been a busy one since we have
been in this home, however, as a family we are learning that its not always
best to be so busy with stuff and things that we can't enjoy time as a family
and I am starting to find a little sense of a moment of freedom here and there
and it feels so nice.

So stop by for a visit every now and then and see what this fun house it up to.

Got my early Valentine, Birthday, Mothers Day gift from my WONDERFUL hubby last night!

I am turning 30 this year and had put a bug in my husbands ear several weeks ago that 30 deserved something special (with a smile) and I really would love a nice camera. Well first of all he actually heard what I said, secondly he took it way more seriously than I thought he would have....

Last night after I put my little boy to bed as soon as I walked out his door my husband asked me if I would go get his phone off our bed, I nicely said yes as he had a 21 hour shift the day previous and I knew he was very tired (although a thought of "lazy" did get in my head) anyway, I open the door and to my wonderful suprise there it was all laid out accessories included.....

A Sony a33 Digital SLT camera and 2 Lenses (18-55 & 55-200) and everything esle I would need to get started, I cried, yes cried. This is the first DSLR (SLT) with a translucent mirror technology, means it takes frames much fast than most others out there which = not having blurry photos of my baby doing what he does, and many more sweet features, I have to learn about them all. My husband of course can tell me all about it as he has been researching every comparable camera which makes it even more special. I am not trying to say he is not thoughtful he very much is, but anyone that knows me knows I am picky and hard to suprise especially by my husband because he wants me to be happy.

I could not believe he got such a nice piece, I mean I didn't even know what I wanted myself yet and already knew I would have to go looking for something used and was perfectly content with that but I got this pretty little thing, I couldn't have been more suprised or pleased.

My hubby is the bestest!!! LOVE YOU BABE!

P.S. He did give me one restriction, he said no furniture photos, well I can't promise that, but my primary subject is always my baby so I think I'll be okay, of course this is once I figure out how to operate it :).

I also appreciate a seeing a picture of a room that you can see someone actually lives here, much like my little stack on the corner of the counter in my kitchen, its always there and why don't I find something pretty to put this stuff in, the world may never know.....
